Completed after 1522, the palace was originally the property of the Alidosi family and was later taken over and enlarged by the Sassatelli family. On the Via Emilia runs the imposing façade with an escarpment base, leading through the building's main entrance to a porticoed courtyard. The arches are decorated with slender sandstone columns and capitals bearing the coats of arms of Giovanni Sassatelli, at that time head of the Guelph faction in Imola. Conversely, the service entrance to the stables can be found at the back of Piazza del Duomo. In addition to the Sassatelli court, the palace was also home to their private militia. At the end of the eighteenth century, the largest portion belonged to Count Alessandro, to whom his conspicuous inheritance was bequeathed not to the descendants of his brother Roberto, but to his more distant relative Antonio Monsignani, grandson of his sister Marianna, whose surname is still linked to the history of the palace.
The palace is privately owned and houses the 'Mariele Ventre' concert hall, used for the Concert Season, exam sessions and recitals of the Imola Academy and made available for cultural initiatives of the City of Imola.
