The village of Colle Ameno is located near Pontecchio Marconi, comprising a complex of buildings erected in the mid-18th century at the behest of Marquis Filippo Ghisilieri. The layout of the village originates from a central nucleus consisting of Villa Davia (a pre-existing building dating back to the 17th century) and its courtyard, surrounded by buildings designed for workshops and artisan houses. A hospital and an oratory are also present, while a library and a theatre were also originally active, all elements that contributed to enhancing and emphasising the vitality of the Borgo, which is the only still-visible example of an "urban and cultural centre of the Bolognese Enlightenment" in the Upper Reno Valley.
Colle Ameno suffered severe damage during the Second World War, but restoration and redevelopment projects have been underway for years, leading to the creation of spaces dedicated to art and crafts, as well as rooms suitable for exhibitions and art shows. Restoration work has also involved Villa Davia, the first nucleus of the Borgo. The original 17th-century structure was enlarged by the architect Francesco Galli and enriched with stuccoes and fine frescoes by Mauro Aldrovandini. The spacious building (two floors and a basement) still retains all the charm of the past and helps to preserve the vibrant atmosphere of the Borgo.
