From January 30 to May 4, 2025, the MAST Foundation will host the new exhibition "MAST Photography Grant on Industry and Work 2025," curated by Urs Stahel. This eighth edition showcases the work of five finalists selected for the photography competition, which focuses on themes related to industry and labor. The finalists, chosen from 42 candidates under the age of 35 from around the world, are Felicity Hammond, Gosette Lubondo, Silvia Rosi, Sheida Soleimani, and Kai Wasikowski. Each artist has developed an original, unpublished project specifically for the Foundation MAST and the theme of the award.
The winner of this edition is Sheida Soleimani, who presented the photographic project "Flyways." This work explores the connection between the Iranian women's protest movement "Woman, Life, Freedom" and the plight of migratory birds that suffer injuries from colliding with buildings and structures created by humans. Soleimani creates a dual narrative, linking the devastation of life caused by oppression with the hope for a fairer and more welcoming future for all species.
