The vertical line

At the Raccolta Lercaro, from Thursday, October 17, 2024 (inauguration at 6:00 PM) until March 9, 2025, a solo exhibition by Agostino Arrivabene, La linea verticale, curated by Giovanni Gardini, will be presented. The exhibition is the result of a collaboration with Primo Marella Gallery.

La linea verticale showcases the artist's latest research through 22 works, including paintings and drawings, centered on the themes of transcendence, vision, and inner dialogue. These themes, long dear to the artist, receive particular attention in this exhibition, with a series of works created specifically for the show—more than half of the pieces presented in the Bologna exhibition—where the growing intensity of the vertical tension toward the Other becomes evident.

The displayed paintings tell the soul of the artist and guide the visitor into a new dimension of the sacred, taking them on a journey through spirit and time, where the great masters of the past meet Arrivabene's contemporary vision and ever-evolving gaze.

The theme of human finiteness and transience—another constant in the artist's work—emerges in many of the paintings, offering a conscious awareness of life's fleeting nature. However, this dimension, far from being a tragic realization, opens humanity to a transfigured reality, where the presence of transcendence appears as closeness, a luminous cloud, and vertical tension.
