Museo Ottocento Bologna announces a major exhibition on the Savini family, an authentic mirror of 19th-century Bolognese art, thanks to the complexity of their genealogy and relative artistic qualities. The high level of quality promotes the Savinis as exempla of the varied stylistic currents of the 19th century. The exhibition, strongly desired and completely unprecedented, celebrates this family of hard-working painters who, through the generations, represented Bologna and the pictorial development of the 19th century: Giacomo (1768-1842), Alfonso (1838-1908) and Alfredo (1868-1924) - great-grandfather, father and son - artists who, with their brushes, spanned a century. The exhibition, consisting of more than ninety pieces - so representative that they are three monographic exhibitions in themselves - allows the visitor to enjoy their individual artistic developments and their style, so highly qualitative but at the same time so different in the various hands.
For the first time, the kinship between the Savinis has been clarified and the heirs, custodians of works, documents and photographs, have been traced. Museo Ottocento Bologna has financed and coordinated the restoration of all the works kept in the deposits of MAMbo, the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna and the Museo Revoltella in Trieste, some of which are exhibited for the first time outside their locations. With Dinastia Savini, a gap is finally filled, with the aim of returning other forgotten stories to the city
