The Palazzo della Residenza della Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna was constructed by Giuseppe Mengoni, one of the leading figures of Italian Eclecticism, in the first half of the 19th century upon commission by the Cassa di Risparmio.
The most important spaces inside are: the sumptuous Grand Staircase, the Council Chambers, the Library, the Sala dei Cento (Room of the Hundreds), the Salotto Azzurro (Blue Room) and the Council Room. The building also houses works by artists such as Guercino, Creti and Carracci.
