Via del Porto

Via del Porto is so-called because it was the ancient access point to Porto Naviglio, the Bologna inland waterway port on the Navile canal. 

The port, in stable structure since the mid-sixteenth century, was an important junction in the navigation networks within the city and a major trade crossroads.
