Already part of the Roman Via Emilia, it runs with its porticoes between medieval houses, buildings and churches, from Piazza di porta Ravegnana to Porta Maggiore. At the beginning of the street is the church of S. Bartolomeo dating back to the 17th century, which houses paintings by Francesco Albani and Guido Reni.
On the right side of the road stands the Basilica of Santa Maria dei Servi, one of the greatest Italian Gothic masterpieces, dating back to 1345. The most admirable work is the Madonna enthroned with the Child and angels (Madonna in trono con il Bambino ed angeli) by Cimabue.
