Piazza Aldrovandi is named after Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522-1605), father of modern geology. From Strada Maggiore the square opens between Palazzo Bianchetti, on one side, and Palazzo Davia Bargellini, on the other. Closing the square towards Via San Vitale is one of the surviving towers (“torresotti”) of the walls of the year 1000.
The square is known above all for its market, divided into 16 cloisters and open to visitors every day.
