Lake Brasimone is a reservoir near the town of Camugnano in the Bolognese Apennines at 800 meters above the sea level. Built in the early 20th century by exploiting the course of the Brasimone stream, the lake is now part of the Suviana and Brasimone Lakes Regional Park, located in an enchanting natural setting and crossed by important hikes and trails. The mountains around the lake can be explored both on foot or mountain bike by the Via della Lana e della Seta, the trail that join Bologna to Prato, and the Alta Via dei Parchi Trail which cross all the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines ridge from east to west.
Not far away from the lake we have Castiglione dei Pepoli, from where you can reach the characteristic Ranuzzi-Segni "Abetaia" Refuge, nestled in the beautiful fir forest of Monte Baducco, where the stunning panorama opens onto the entire mountain ridge from Mount Corno alle Scale to Mount Cimone.
In Brasimone you can make a stop at La Guardata RV area, where you can spend a magical starry night on the shores of the lake.
