The Sala della Musica is the first permanent exhibition in Italy dedicated to the history of popular music in a city.
The project, based on a concept by Paolo Fresu, stands alongside the city's other prestigious musical institutions and is developed in an attempt to bear witness to the richness of the music scene in recent decades and the liveliness of current production, elements that led to Bologna's recognition as UNESCO Creative City of Music in 2006.
The exhibition path offers visitors an experiential journey in an immersive environment that gives shape, body and voice to the narration of the contents. The story, spanning decades, is accompanied by events and anecdotes set in evocative architectural structures featuring lenticular images, music tracks, soundwave art and video animations. Mentioned and narrated are more than eight hundred names, titles, places and events of a city that, in seventy-five years, has never lost its vitality.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Sala includes a space for temporary thematic focuses, serving as an informal learning and meeting place relating to music industry.
The Music Hall is located on the second floor of Salaborsa Library being part of the Quadrilatero della Cultura project.
Free admission with Green Pass during the opening hours of Salaborsa Library.
