The Museum, suggestively located inside one of the four ancient gates of Pieve di Cento, displays a collection of relics connected to the manufacturing of hemp fiber: from cultivation to trade, from handicraft to the first local factories.
The processing of the hemp fiber is illustrated by means of the tools, sometimes rudimentary, belonging to each processing phase: the tools of the hemp farmer, of the hemp comber, of the spinner who turned it into balls of yarn, of the weaver producing the fabric and of the rope maker. In this way the Museum can give an anthropological cross-section of this typical production of the Bolognese Plain.
