Bologna
Otto, the Italian for “eight”, like the number of years to year 2000: this was the idea of the director Giuseppe Lufrano when he opened the first gallery in 1992, at the number 50 of the central Via D’Azeglio in Bologna, where there was already a historic gallery. Since 1992 Otto Gallery has been a reference point, with the greatest names of contemporary art, critics and a public of art lovers, and it has been aimed both at private collectors and institutional collectors of museums and foundations. From the year of its opening and then since 2002, in the new address in Palazzo Montalto, in Via d’Azeglio 55, many different exhibitions were organized, among which the personal exhibitions of: Wainer Vaccari, Gilberto Zorio, Luca Caccioni, Arcangelo, Nunzio, Marco Tirelli, Piero Pizzi Cannella, Gianni Dessì, Giuseppe Gallo, Roberto Rizzoli, José Sanleon, Nicholas Howey, Russell Scarpulla, Carol Rama, Filippo Maggia, Tony Cragg, Ricardo Brey, Paolo Canevari, Luigi Mainolfi, Luigi Carboni, Franz Stähler, Flavio Favelli, Giovanni Manfredini, Piero Manai, Emil Lukas, Andrea Fogli, Alfredo Pirri, Jorge Peris, Eliseo Mattiacci. These exhibitions show a spirit of research and an attempt to emphasize the importance of art and of some of its main actors, at a national and at an international level. All the exhibitions of Otto Gallery were produced and organized by the staff of the gallery, with works that the artists made specially for the gallery itself. The artists are required to carry out unique and exclusive works, always new and often made for museums.
