New Year's Funk Concert

To ring in 2025, the Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna polishes up the brass of its Brass Band for a special occasion dedicated to an irresistible genre of music: funk.

Born in the United States in the mid-1960s, funk emerged from the fusion of soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues, created by African American musicians. It gave rise to a rhythm-heavy style that has become impossible to resist.

For those attending the concert, the real challenge will be trying not to dance to the infectious sounds of James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, The Commodores, Chic, and other electrifying hits. This will be an exhilarating New Year's celebration, featuring the expertise of Massimo Zanotti, conductor and arranger with a long history at the Sanremo Festival, and the explosive Caribbean-born vocalist Nadyne Rush.
