The upcoming exhibition at *Imola Musei*, from October 26, 2024, to January 19, 2025, at the San Domenico Museum, will be entirely dedicated to Nicola Verlato.
Curated by Diego Galizzi and organized by the Municipality of Imola, "Mith Generation" will showcase over fifty works, including paintings, drawings, and sculptures, in what will be the most significant mid-career retrospective of the Veronese artist, renowned for his exploration of the intersections between painting, sculpture, and new media.
Born in 1965, Verlato is recognized for his unique artistic language that blends Renaissance and Baroque influences with modern elements such as cinema, video games, and virtual reality. His art delves into contemporary mythologies, combining pop surrealism, academicism, and visionary hyperrealism.
The exhibition features a cycle dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini and works inspired by pop icons like James Dean, exploring dramatic themes and reflecting on human destinies. Influenced by classical art and masters like Caravaggio, Verlato merges tradition and modernity, creating visually striking works that incorporate sci-fi, comics, and 3D technology.
According to Galizzi, Verlato's art, filled with tension and irreverence, captures the instability of the present while expressing the timeless allure of a mythical past.
