Æmilia Ars association is back in the spotlight thanks to another brilliant artistic season and the brand new exhibition project “Il Camino dei Fenicotteri” (The Flamingos’ Fireplace) at the Davia Bargellini Museum, curated by Paolo Cova, Mark Gregory D’Apuzza and Ilaria Negretti, in collaboration with Renzo Zagnoni and Gruppo di Studi Alta Valle del Reno, brought to you by Musei Civici d’Arte Antica, under the patronage of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna, the Municipality of Grizzana Morandi, the Union of the Bolognese Mountain Municipalities and the Metropolitan City of Bologna.
The exhibition will consist of a core section displaying 17 extremely rare and highly valuable drawings, realised by three of the most prominent and talented artists within Alfonso Rubbiani’s intellectual circle, the brothers Achille and Giulio Casanova and Giuseppe de Col. Another highlight of the collection is a series of 11 wrought iron works, created by the ateliers of Piero Maccaferri and Sante Mingazzi, kindly loaned to the exhibition by the permanent collection of the Davia Bargellini Museum.
The entire ensemble of graphic works, except for one exhibit hailing from a private collection that has never been shown to the public before, belongs to a fund of over 500 drawings owned by Æmilia Ars and originally acquired by the Municipality of Bologna in 1936 as to enrich the city’s civic collections.
