Pane e Panelle is a cosy and welcoming trattoria, simple yet elegant, situated in the heart of Bologna. In the dining room or inner courtyard, you can savour fish and vegetable dishes created by our chef Giovanni Pappalardo who combines Sicilian tradition with innovation. For the past 10 years, Pane e Panelle has been bringing the tradition of the Mediterranean cuisine to the heart of Bologna’s historical city centre, just a stone’s throw from the Two Towers. The keywords to our cuisine are fresh bread, tradition, simplicity as well as modernity and experimentation. After revolutionising the concept of vegan cuisine during his experience in Milan, in Pane e Panelle chef Pappalardo found a place to call home and developed a unique method to research and process raw materials: the fish arrives straight from the fishing boats and are prepared directly in the restaurant kitchen as they once used to be in the tuna-fishing nets. The owner Isabel Muratori welcomes you to her freshly-refurbished restaurant such a homely atmosphere that it will easily make you feel at home and where you can enjoy a glass of wine, maybe from Sicily, from the wine list drawn up personally by Isabel. During the summer, the outdoor courtyard - a true hidden garden in the heart of Bologna - turns into a peaceful relaxing oasis.
