Updated on 01 August 2023 From Bologna Welcome

Ready to make a wish? With its famous hills and numerous parks, the Bologna area is the right place to spend the Night of San Lorenzo hunting for shooting stars.

Here are some tips on where to gaze at shooting stars on the night of San Lorenzo in Bologna

Battiferro finché caldo is bringing Stelle Scadenti to the city centre, an evening of excitement and laughter: food, entertainment and lights out in search of shooting stars. Could it be the right time to catch a glimpse of one?

In the forecourt of the Ustica Memorial Museum, at 9.15 p.m., a poetic performance will be held with David Riondino, accompanied by the voice of Monica Demuru. The evening explores the tragedy of Ustica through literary compositions and songs, emphasising the pain and nostalgia aroused by such tragically fatal events. The narrative is interwoven with poems by Pascoli, stories by Saint-Exupéry and ancient texts by Lucian of Samosata, evoking the theme of broken flight and ascension. This event is free of charge.

Lovers of the Apennines cannot miss the Crinali - Musica a Vergato event: here, the voice and music of Gianluca de Rubertis will be joining you in a memorable night show.

And in the hills, why not enjoy a full sound and immersive opera under the stars at Fienile Fluò? After climbing the gentle hills, perhaps helped by the available shuttle buses, all you have to do is lie back and gaze at the stars, lulled by the sounds and music performed live by six musicians and transmitted through wireless headphones.

Are you a wine enthusiast? Don't miss the the Calici di Stelle (Goblets of Stars) event then, promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino association. This schedule of wine-themed events will offer you the chance to taste excellent wines and local gourmet delicacies under a starry sky, making the most romantic night of the year even more special. Don't pass up the chance to watch the shooting stars while toasting with a glass in your hand.

If, on the other hand, you would rather spend the evening strolling with an eye to the sky, you should definitely not miss the excursion to the Corno delle Scale regional park. After a dinner at the Segavecchia refuge, your steps will be guided by the music of Oreste Filippe until you reach a clearing and a spectacular star-gazing view.

Finally, if you can't get far from Bologna, don't despair! The numerous city parks are perfect for stargazing while staying in town. From the Villa Spada park in the Saragozza area to the beautiful Villa Ghigi, you will be spoilt for choice.

All you need is a blanket and a wish at hand!
