Industrial Archeology
From Comune di Bologna
Since the 12th century, Bologna had developed an artificial water system made of sluices, canals and underground pipelines, which were mainly used as power source for manufacturing activities. In fact, in the past Bologna was an important production centre in different fields, from the silk making to the mechanical engineering.
The historical evolution has made it possible to preserve this “memory” in some industrial buildings, which have now been turned into amazing and not-to-be missed museums and exhibition centres.
