Bologna by camper van

Bologna is famous for its medieval centre, made of towers, palaces, alleys and arcades. Exploring it on foot is certainly the most pleasant way to enjoy its artistic and culinary wonders.

However, Bologna is a perfect destination even for cam, thanks to a vast range of solutions: not far from the oldtown, indeed, the city offers manifold parking lots and equipped areas for all road travelers.

CAMPING AND RV PARKING AREAS NEAR THE CENTRE OF BOLOGNA

In via Romita 12/4a, close to the Fair district, you will find the Centro Turistico Città di Bologna, a camping area surrounded by beautiful green spots and equipped with toilets, coffee shops and restaurants for a well-deserved break. Centro Turistico Città di Bologna offers a free playground for children, an internet point and, during the summer, a swimming pool with a solarium. From here you can reach the historic center of Bologna in about thirty minutes by bus. 

In via della Beverara 157, moreover, there is Camperopoli, an area equipped for short and long stays. In front of the entrance, you find the public transport stop, where you can catch a bus that in fifteen minutes takes you to the Central Station of Bologna, the hub for getting around the city. Take advantage of this opportunity to explore the surrounding area: the Museum of Industrial Heritage is worth a visit, and if you have your bike with you, just cycle along the Navile canal, one of Bologna's ancient waterways. If you head northwards, you will get out of the city through the ancient hydraulic structures of  Bologna's waterways.

For those looking for an equipped area, the Area Camper Ropa Center  in Via Giuseppe Vaccaro 11 will surely be to their liking. This is an area with automated access 24 hours a day and 50 pitches with electrical connection, some with sink and independent water supply. In addition, during the summer, a swimming pool with solarium and a cocktail bar are available. At 200 meters there is a bus stop from which you can reach the city center in half an hour, while at 500 meters you’ll find a practical shopping center. If you’re not only fond of campers, but also of motorcycles, nearby you will find the Ducati Museum, a must-see for any motor enthusiast. 

CAMPER VAN PARKS NEAR THE CENTRE OF BOLOGNA

If you are just looking for camper van parking facilities near Bologna, drive to Via Roma in Calderara di Reno (BO), in the immediate vicinity of Bologna Airport. In a quiet area and close to a dog park, you will find loading and unloading facilities and 4 parking spaces for motorhomes; from here you can reach the city centre by bus no. 91 from the Amendola stop. Even closer to the centre, you will find a camper van park at Via Prati di Caprara 12, with no additional facilities. From here you can reach Piazza Maggiore by bus no. 19. 

Another place for parking your motorhome is the Parking Santuario Madonna San Luca (via San Luca 20). This is a parking area located at the top of Monte della Guardia, right in front of the Sanctuary of Madonna di San Luca, from which you can enjoy an enchanting view of the city. The parking lot is not guarded, and neither is it under video surveillance. To get to the city center from there, we  recommend walking down the hill and then catching one of the frequent buses running along via Saragozza. 

PARKING AREAS WITHIN THE METROPOLITAN AREA OF BOLOGNA

In the metropolitan district, consider the camper van parking area in Via A. Oriani, 5 Castel San Pietro Terme, located near the village, Palazzo di Varignana and the centre of Imola with its racetrack. Other useful services for campers with loading/unloading at Monterenzio and Via Montanara, 150 Ponticelli (BO); in the Apennines, on the other hand, you will find the P1 del Cavone + motorhome parking area  in SP del Cavone 17, at Lizzano in Belvedere; parking area "La Guardata" in Via Brasimone at Camugnano and the motorhome parking area in Castel d'Aiano, an excellent base for exploring, inter alia, the Labante Caves.
